- What counts as a "hosting company"?
- A tenant — one branded storefront (subdomain or custom domain) with its own clients, packages, and billing. Kaligon has no hard limit on tenants even on the free plan.
- Do I need Proxmox?
- Yes. Kaligon DCIM automates Proxmox VE. You bring the Proxmox cluster(s); Kaligon orchestrates the rest.
- Can I switch from self-hosted to managed later?
- Yes. Data migration is straightforward — export from your self-hosted Postgres, import into the managed instance. We help.
- Is the source really open?
- Yes, permissively licensed. Modify, fork, resell — within license terms. Contributions welcome.
- What about payment gateways?
- Billing is built in: prepaid account balance with gift cards and manual top-ups. Pluggable card payment gateways are on the roadmap and can be added via the PaymentGateway model.
